Summary/Abstract: The article reports on the analysis of media discourse of the central political news programs of two public service broadcasters (RTV and RTS1) and commercial broadcasters B92, First, Regional TV, TV Unity and TV Bujanovac, sampled in November 2010. Reports that are included in this analysis, were implicitly and explicitly related to protection, violation, or affirmation of human rights. Majority of reports on human rights were authors reports and news. There was a correlation between the topics of reports and generic structure. Human rights are generally placed in an implicit rather than explicit plain text. It means that the media are not fully transparent, and that the sensibilities of the audience depend largely on whether the event or phe-nomenon is recognized as a human rights issue, or remains at the level of individual case, that is, state / party politics.
