Summary/Abstract: This paper is a review of Ferdinand Maslić’s article The Sociology of Education in Yugoslavs 1918–1938, published in 1939 in Volume 6 of Educational Yugoslavia, the journal of the Yugoslav Teachers’ Association. This work is significant not only historically, but also scientifically. The review of practical research in education as well as the numerous problems encoutered by young people from Ljubljana to Belgrade can be inspiring for contemporary sociology of education. Maslić provided a very detailed analysis of the bibliography and the factual state of sociology and pedagogy and noted a theoretical and practical need for the establishment of a new science of the sociology of education in Yugoslavia. He identified a number of social problems related to the development of the educational system as well as child rearing and socialization in times of poverty and development of large cities.
