Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the phenomenon of religion on the Internet – in what way the new information technologies have contributed to the transformation of religious life in the twenty-first century. Study of religion on the Internet has been relatively new field that attract researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds during the last 15 years. This paper reviews several theoretical and empirical studies of prominent authors who have dealt with this issue: (re)presentation of mainstream and new religions on the Internet, the process of forming virtual religious communities and groups, cyber-rituals and religious life in the 3D virtual environments.
