Summary/Abstract: The paper deals, briefly, with the most prominent issue we how to achieve social equality between women and men. the economic position of women. The prime indispensable and irreplaceable basic element requiring female emancipation is the complete material independance within family what provides her own survival. Starting out from over-all rate of women employment (the number of employed women in Yugoslavia rose 14.6 times from ‘ 1945 to 1980 increasing the respective share of women in total employment from 29.3 to 35.2 percent; in Serbia the number of employed women enhanced 5 times from 1952 to 1980 and the respective share moved upwards from a fifth to a third of total employment;
