Summary/Abstract: The first part of the article starts from the assumption that the most fundamental conditions for an efficient economy are clearly defined and individualized property relations, with a clearly defined owner, enjoying an efficient legal protection. This part of the paper also contains an analysis of several surveys about the preferences of Serbian citizens for the directed economy over the market economy.
