Summary/Abstract: The paper is focused on the legal regime of genetic information. Predominant emphasis is placed on information contained and processed in genetic databases. First part of the paper aims at establishing legal basis for participation in genetic databases, i.e. informed consent and consent to personal data processing. The second part analyses selected legal issues connected with research genetic databases. Finally, the third part is focused on specific legal regime of information contained in forensic databases. The paper provides analysis of crucial legal problems of genetic information in relation to genetic databases and formulates “lex ferenda” suggestions.
