Summary/Abstract: The storage of collections is an issue related to the technical process of materials aging. Ensuring the proper conditions for the storage of valuable collections has been solved for many years. At present, there are standards regulating the conditions in which books should be stored, eg. ISO standard. However, maintaining optimal conditions is a difficult task. The MonTreAL system is helpful in this matter. This system helps to monitor the temperature and humidity in the storerooms. It can also generate alarms when the conditions are not appropriate. The article presents the Bamberg State Library and the University of Bamberg Library, for which the MonTreAL system was developed. It also presents the perspective of independent construction and use of the system, which can help to save valuable collections for a longer time.
