Summary/Abstract: The pericope J 19,25–27, often called the testament from the cross, does not contain only the last commandment of the Son on future life of his Mother. In the hour of Jesus’s death Mary has been pronounced the Mother of the Church, which means Mother of all believers, who under the cross are embodied by the believed disciple of Jesus. Such an interpretation does not deprive the scene of some elements of Mary’s pain and grief, but rather points at even deeper Messianic and ecclesiastical sense.
