Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the problems of intercultural communication between Russian and Czech people. Success in contacts between two members of foreign nations is based on the knowledge of theother’s mentality and traditions. The author describes some examples of unsuccessful contacts between representatives of the two nations. The author of the paper analyses the character of the Russian people within the frame of four criteria identified by G. Hofstede.
