Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the deverbative substantives with suffixes -tva, -tba and marginally -ba documented during the Old Czech and Middle Czech period. It provides a concise overview of the development of these types of word-formation, with particular focus on accurate knowledge of minorlanguage change: a substitution of the suffix -tva for -tba in several lexemes and formation of suffix-tba. It provides a more accurate dating for this change and presents it in the connection with thechange in the pronunciation of the bilabial v in labiodental.
