Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the question of the effective relevance of placement and internship in translator training. It underpins the holistic design and implementation of a competence- and work-based curriculum. Under the circumstances, it becomes crucial that the trainees should develop awareness of occupational standards and sensitivity to professional environments. Hence, placement as structured professional experience integrates knowledge, reflection and action and becomes a measure of success.
