Summary/Abstract: This paper provides one possible reading of the first definition of knowledge in a dialogue Theaetetus, definition of knowledge as perception, focusing on Plato’s criticism of Protagoras’ doctrine in order to show two things. First, that the criticism of Protagoras’ doctrine is criticism of certain concept of perception, but not Plato’s critique of perception as knowledge. Second, that the logic of refutation of Protagoras’ doctrine is fully congruent with the logic of the last two inquiries of the hypothesis “One is not” in the dialogue Parmenides.
