Multiplexes – New Possibilities (but are they taken advantage of?)

Summary/Abstract: The article describes transition of digital television in Poland, which was a revolution for broadcasters and viewers. The analysis of the transition process covers the years 1997–2018. The study shows the most important facts and events accompanying the digitalization and actions of various media market players in Poland, that influenced the course of the process. Furthermore, the study evaluates legal and technological aspects related to the implementation of the new terrestrial emission method mentioned. The author described the mechanism of the functioning multiplexes and the services that are provided in digital terrestrial television. The article attempts to compare taken and lost chances that the Polish media market faced due to digital television transition.
