Summary/Abstract: Following study examines the “Velvet“ or “Gentle“ Revolution in the Czechoslovak Television in the Slovak Socialist Republic (ČST v SSR). A non-violent transition occuring after November 17, 1989 in Czechoslovakia affected the entire society including media. This article focuses on the role of television in dismantling the old system and outlines the dramatic changes and conversions within this institution.
