Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article was to address the problem of increasing flows of goods between Europe and Asia, specifying the flow of goods using intermodal transports and the problem of these efficiency. Article also introduces the reader to the concept of the New Silk Road, indicating its advantages and disadvantages, and describes selected technological solutions for combined transport. The article propose specific solutions in the field of technology and organization of transport, which may lead to increase deficiency by, for example, reducing the cost of intermodal freight flows between Asia and Europe. The author also puts in his article his predictions about the future of intermodal technologies and trends in the development of trade flows on the Asia–Europe route.
