Summary/Abstract: Silesian Texans, who have been living in the San Antonio, Texas area for over 150 years, today compose a group estimated by some researchers to number about 200,000 (1%) of the inhabitants of this state. They usually settled in groups, in contrast to the so-called Brazilian emigrants during a similar era. This is how settlements were established, which were named Panna Maria (where it all began), Cestochowa, St. Hedwig, Kosciuszko, Bandera and others. The history of settlements, the fates of families, and preserving their language and material culture are recorded in often extremely detailed publications. Yet it is difficult to express the same about research on the state of their traditional musical culture.
