Summary/Abstract: The Common Christological Declaration that 25 years ago was signed by Pope John Paul II and Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, Mar Dinkha IV, is a milestone after common Christological stagnation that have been lasting fruitlessly for last several hundreds of years. The document deals with these aspects of the teaching of the Church on Christ that had made the Assyrian Church to go its own way after the Council of Ephesus (431). It is worth to note that the faith the Assyrians professed with respect to the Incarnation of the Son of God and the relation between the two his natures, divine and human, is the same as it was taught by the Church since the time of the Council of Chalcedon (451).
