Summary/Abstract: The article presents the assumptions of a new trend on the construction market, which is low-energy buildings, as a consequence of the implementation of the Directive 2010/31/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 May 2010, on the energy performance of buildings, according to which by the end of 2020 low-energy buildings will become a building standard in all EU member states. A SWOT analysis of the discussed issue was carried out from the point of view of Poland. A comparison was made between the effectiveness of the implementation of the Directive in Poland, against the background of selected European Union countries.
