THE SWORD-PEN DEBATE

Summary/Abstract: This study focuses on the “münazara” of sword-pen. After explaining the meaning of the debate as a word and term, summary information about debate in Arabian, Persian and Turkish literature is given.The general emphasis is put on the Debates in Turkish Literature, and specifically on the sword-pen debates.A 14th century court poet Ahmedi’s kaside named as "Kasîde fî-Bahsi’s-Seyf ve’l-Kalem" is examined in terms of form and content in this paper.The full text of the kaside is at the end of the study.
