Prospects of Research on the Russian-Polish Press Discourse

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the Russian-Polish press discourse, functioning via translation. The material basis are the Russian media texts translated into Polish from a biweekly (previously a weekly magazine) FORUM. The author is therefore interested in translation relations and the inter-text space as a platform for dialogue in interlingual communication between Russians and Poles, leading to understanding of the opinions of the Russian media. Reflection on the current Russian-Polish press discourse functioning via translation should therefore oscillate around the participation of individual texts in the (linguistic, discursive) interpretation of reality, including the axiological dimension and the value of the applied text modifications influencing on the degree of symmetry of both texts, as well as interpretative options which take into account (inter)cultural and communicative competences of the communication participants.
