Summary/Abstract: Cinema is one of the most important tools for introducing famous personalities to the masses. The tradition of tale and storytelling of antiquity continued with the art of theater, and in time the seventh art had the opportunity to express it as a branch of cinema. In the first films produced in history, the relationship between cinema and philosophy has been demonstrated by films which have philosophical references (metaphors). This study on “Philosophers as a Screenwriting/Screenplay”particularly aims at exploring the way how the philosophers’ life stories were described in the biographical films directed by the directors. In this framework, first of all, films of Western philosophers, namely Socrates, Descartes, Pascal, Giordano Bruno, Hypatia, Galileo and Eastern philosophers; and films of Ibn-i Sina, İbn-i Rüşt, Imam al-Ghazali and films about the Chinese philosopher Confucius from the Far East will be examined. Then, the film critics of these directors will be evaluated.
