Summary/Abstract: The idea that there is a similar distinction between the types of prose and poetry has come up in the silent period European cinema for the first time and the concept of poetic film was put forward. Although a large number of films were shot, the definition unity could not be established. In this article based on the question ‘’Is it possible to come across with the traces of poetic style in Yeşilcam cinema?’’ firstly, from the past to the present, works on cinema and poetry have been given and then it has been tried to form a framework for poetic cinema through the very subjective thoughts of important directors and theorists. Yeşilçam films, poetic styles mentioned by writers and academics, have been examplified and the films taken in the first half of the 1960s, have been discovered to have some common features. Then, the obstacles attempting to establish a poetic film style in Yeşilçam have been discussed.
