Summary/Abstract: The Third Bulgarian Code of Criminal Procedure entered into force on 29 April 2006. It reinforces the national tradition of codification of the legal framework of criminal law, introduced by the 1952 and 1974 Codes. At the same time, it establishes a normative form the new political conditions in the country and the legal reality after the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria in 1991. The new PPC embodies a number of situations of the current reform of the Bulgarian criminal system, especially after 1999.
