Summary/Abstract: Bureaucracy, as a solid, unresponsive structure, is often criticized by emerging of the new public management approach which has been specifically designed by recommendations to eliminate negative effects of bureaucracy. As one of the most influential names in bureaucracy studies, Max Weber outlined the key characteristics of bureaucracy however, Weberian bureaucracy is still subject to criticism. What underlies the fierce criticism? Is Weberian bureaucracy the cause of government bureaucracy's unresponsiveness in the 20th Century? Is Weberian bureaucracy rather a good, optimum level service provision model for the information society? Has Weberian bureaucracy's place remained in the transition from the industrial society to the information society? In fact, Weber's model is also identified to meet to the society's needs of his time and beyond. Weberian bureaucracy works best in rational-legal authority. While the legal-rational authority type is well adapted across the nations, is it possible to consider that Weberian bureaucracy is fossilized? In fact, the toothed wheels of the Weberian bureaucracy will even speed up thanks to e- Government applications and services that have accepted rapidly and widely by the new management approach supporters.
