Summary/Abstract: Mehmet Güleryüz, who was one of the representatives of the new expressionist tendency in Turkish Art in the 1980s, creates metaphorical analogical works in which transformations are experienced. Incorporates color-pattern relation in his figures. The concept of subjectivity observed in the new expressionist tendency; ideology, thoughts and impressions, the essence turns into a whole language in the form of self-expression and comes out in the works of the artist. In Mehmet Güleryüz’s works, color, drawing and formatic structure, intense paint texture and linear expression style are seen together. In this research, Mehmet Güleryüz’s works have been examined in terms of space interpretations and fictional relations, figure interpretations and deformations, colorist approach. In exaggerated expressions of figure interpretations, feelings of fear and tension are intertwined. This intensity of emotion is blended with the artist’s drawing approach, forming a satirical language by turning into the strange forms, mimics and gestures in the portraits of figures. The aim of the research was to find Mehmet Güleryüz’s works which contributed to the linearity of the structure with rich figure interpretations during the modernization process of Turkish Painting; with fantastic imagery. It has been observed that the research and the scenes of the artist, moving between dream and reality, are conveyed through a dramatic and tragic language and human psychological values are criticized. With these observations, the dynamic expression structure of the content; It is concluded that it is interpreted through metaphysical possibilities, textural effective scenes and internal sensations.
