Summary/Abstract: Catherine Mavrikakis’ Ça va aller and François Blais’ Document 1, though these novels describe ordinary life with the days passing, are not quiet streams where the reader peacefully makes its way. Paradoxically, they condemn what they are – humdrum narrations – exposing conventionalism, conformism and commonplace foolishness. Strengthened by their painful consciousness, their characters withstand. Yet, every stratagem leads to failure. Everyday life’s quest turns out being as fruitless as Graal’s Quest.
