Summary/Abstract: In a market economy inflation influences the individual behavior in making financial decisions. The article focuses on the change in the Harmonized index of consumer prices, income and individual consumption over the period 2007-2017. The methodology for performing empirical studies on household financial behavior in decile groups is based on the application of analytical functions applicable to models with financial data. The results achieved using a standard deviation approach confirming the significance of the amount of income when deciding on consumption under the terms of the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices are presented. The author emphasizes the role of the state in enhancing the financial literacy of individuals in order to choose rational financial behavior towards the direction and dynamics of macroeconomic processes.
