Summary/Abstract: In the past 10 years has seen a marked world tendency for the application of the ICF model in the field of communication disorders. The model is been used in educational settings across the world. For Bulgaria as a member of the EU need to be aligned standards for student’s training in Logopedics, and as well, to provide logopedical services in the country in accordance with the European standards. In many EU countries Logopedics is in the field of health sciences, and a large part of logopedical services is assumed by public health services. This is a prerequisite for implementing the nomenclature of the WHO, which is a unified for all types of diseases and disorders, including communication disorders. Nowadays ASHA (American Speech-Hearing Association) use ICF framework in its Scope of Practice in Speech and Language Pathology. Professional organizations from Australia (SPA), United Kingdom (RCSLT) also endorses use of the ICF for guiding standards of clinical practice.
