Summary/Abstract: In the period of Abdulhamid II, innovations planned to be performed in the Tanzimat reform era could be carried out, and education institutions became widespread. The idea behind the establishment Dârülmuallimîn-i Âliye was included in the 1869 General Education Charter. According to the charter, there would be three branches in the planned Great Dârülmuallimîn. The first of these branches would train teachers for junior high schools, the second for high schools, and the third for the high schools in foreign languages. The scholarships, common in some schools of the époque, was also valid for the students in Dârülmuallimin-i Âliye. All the students in the school were regulars and were receiving scholarships. The scholarship for the students in the school were 100 qurushes per month.
