Summary/Abstract: In the Ottoman State who came into contact with the western world were Jewish, Greek and Armenian minorities. This had also affected the press. Armenians who were under the sway of the Ottomans played a crucial role in the press in the later period as they also acted early in the domain of printing press. They published many newspapers and had possession of a great number of printing houses. Thirty-four Armenian newspaper had been published in the first seven months of the second constitutionalist period. In the same way, they also published satirical newspapers. Some of the satirical newspapers were published in Armenian. Among them, the most influential one was the Gavroş newspaper. The editorial staff, the responsible manager and other administrative staff of the newspaper were the Armenian citizens.
