Summary/Abstract: With the Bolshevik victory over its opponents and the supporters of the Tsarist regime, approximately 145,000-150,000 people left Russia and came to Istanbul from April 1919 to November 1920. Those refugees greatly effected the social-economic life in Istanbul. Due to their great numbers and demands, they contributed to the rising inflation. At the same time, through cafes, restaurants, factories, etc. they brought a new spirit and stimulation to post-war economy in Istanbul. Those influences of the Russian refugees, especially the second one, have become the subject of many studies in Turkey.
