Summary/Abstract: This paper proposes the presentation of the Romanian village from southern Transylvania through photos taken by brothers Emil and Joseph Fischer, the most famous photographers from Sibiu in the 20th century. Emil and Joseph Fischer have developed a huge and rich photo-journalistic material, being considered, rightly, visual chroniclers of the last century. Their photographs capture the Romanian village in all its complexity: general views of settlements, peasant architecture, churches, customs and ceremonies, folk holidays or everyday life, portraits of the inhabitants from the areas where the two have taken shooting campaigns over six decades of work.
