Summary/Abstract: In the article, the author discusses the reasons and processes of adaptation of borrowings, paying special attention to the last decade of the 20th century and the beginnings of the 21st century which are characterized by a significant amount of borrowings from Western languages and this process is often carried out through the Russian language. The analysis has showed that the abbreviations, though unexplored and unstructured, name new phenomena of reality and function actively in Belarusian technolects.
