Summary/Abstract: On the basis of attraction of a wide range of archival sources dynamics of views and line of conduct of intelligentsia of the European North of Russia in revolutionary events of 1917 is presented. It is noted that the processes developed in the region were rather a response to the events happening in the center, but have received a peculiar local refraction. In the European North their scales, dynamism and degree of intensity decided, on the one hand, by the developed tenor of life and attitudes of regional society, on another — influence of World War I and external influences. The prevailing most of intelligentsia giving preference to professional culture creation activity was involved in a political whirlpool without volition, but program provisions of Provisional Government imposed its valuable installations and have got full support. The relation to events of October 1917 was mainly negative, but their outcome has been predetermined by external social forces and partially a position of intelligentsia which consciously separated from political activity and owing to inherent heterogeneity couldn't consolidate efforts.
