Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to systematize solutions of consumer protection on the Polish mortgage market. The author conducted an analysis of legal regulations on the mortgage market (in the form of laws and implementing acts) and indicated the economic determinants of the mortgage market. The study includes the legal regulations that were prepared and implemented between 2004 and 2017. Mortgages, due to the subject of real estate financing, require specific forms of regulation. The risk of financing residential real estate is largely related to the long-term nature of the liability. Another danger is the volatility of interest rates and the change in the value of mortgage collateral. Consequently, the definition of transparent terms of consumer protection on the mortgage market is the essential part of the financial stability of the banking system.
