Summary/Abstract: Based on the valence criterion, the prepositions are divided in two basic groups: transitive prepositions and intransitive prepositions. According to this concept some of PPs are formed out of in the structure of the sentence in X’ (X+ Y) level only. So their values with [+ compl] feature are absolute. We called them transitiv prepositions. On the contrary, some other prepositions phrases in Albanian language are formed out of in X level only. We called them intransitive prepositions. Their values with [- compl] feature are not absolute. This kind of prepositions have double usage, as transitive and intransitive. It means that the same prepositions have dual usage with [- compl, + compl] features. It depend on syntactic properties, especially by semantic of prepositions and selection rules. Given that, we formulated basic rules for the generation of prepositions in Albanian language and we have concluded that all prepositions phrases in Albanian language are structured out of two basic rules: PP P + compl and PP P (- compl).
