Summary/Abstract: The article concerns Bronisław Hełczyński (1890–1978), who was a member of the Codification Commission of the Republic of Poland during the period 1928–1939. The author indicates the reasons that may have led to his appointment as a member of the Codification Commission. The study also presents Bronisław Hełczyński’s personal contribution to the work on the unification and codification of the commercial law of the Republic of Poland. The author notes that Hełczyński was one of several lawyers who edited the Polish Commercial Code from 1934. The article also shows his achievements in the development of marine law and insurance law.
