Summary/Abstract: In this article the author undertakes polemics with contemporary stereotypes concerning Petrazycki’s significance, his concept and theory of law. Explaining the views of researchers directly interlinked with Petrazycki’s academia achievements and extracting significant events from Petrazycki’s biography the author answers following questions: how the theories are significant to jurisprudence and what are the reasons of dissonance in perception of his importance for both global and polish science? What influence had Petrazycki’s theories on polish civil law throughout last century.
