Summary/Abstract: The Department of Applied Modern Languages at the Babeş-Bolyai University provides a sight translation course in the second year of the graduate curriculum, that is at the middle of the students’ graduate training. In this paper, we want to highlight the relevance of this course as preparation for the specialized translation course in the third year, the postgraduate interpreting classes and, last but not least, a current practice in all linguistic professions.
