A Few Remarks on the Process of Democratizations of the Local System in Post-Communist Romania

Summary/Abstract: The article briefly examines from a political perspective the reforms introduced on the local level in Romania after the fall of the communist regime, in 1989. The hypothesis is that the democratization of this local level involves an augmentation of the participation of citizens to decision-making, thus creating a real local democracy. In order to sustain this point of view a case study of the founding principles of local public administration is made, and elements of local democracy and political representation are pointed out.
