Summary/Abstract: Language brings culture, directly affecting identity of those who accept and frame it to fit their needs. How to look upon the notion that English language is the language of the future, global language, which will make us clever and able enough – due to the fact that leading scientific thought is published in English, or it will divest us of ourselves making us bare shells waiting some new cultural patterns to fulfil the gap in order to be acceptable for the West is one of the questions risen in the paper. Defining the terms culture, hegemony, cultural hegemony, imperialism, this paper points to the challenges of the modern age concerning the increasing usage of English language.
