Summary/Abstract: The nouns kwestia ‘issue’ and dyskurs ‘discourse’ belong to the group of Latin loan words and appeared in Polish in the 16th c. An analysis of the typographic shape of 16th c. texts has shown that both words, being assimilated and grammaticaly adapted units, have been recorded in Schwabacher, i.e. the font of the national language, Polish. In the 16th c., the idea emerged of splitting Latin loan words into the foreign part (written in antique or italics), and the Polish part (recorded in Schwabacher). This practice can be seen in the works of a Protestant preacher from Kluczbork, Adam Gdacjusz.
