Summary/Abstract: The excerpted material shows that the falling accents in noninitial syllables are frequent in the speech of announcers in Banja Luka, especially in foreign words and some complex words. On the other hand, there is a tendency to avoid the falling accents in noninitial syllables in several ways – the most common being the displacement of accents to the beginning of the word with a change in intonation or quantity.
