Summary/Abstract: The study traces the formation and evolution of conditional in ‘prosta mova’ (the Ruthenian literary language XVI–XVII) on the Peresopnytsia Gospels (hereafter PE). Based on the spoken language it reflects grammatical variation of the conditional forms. A comprehensive description of ‘prosta mova’ conditional paradigm is reconstructed on the material of PE. The article deals with the evolution and the Polish linguistic influence on ‘prosta mova’ conditional, whose forms are mostly similar to Polish ones (grammatical calques), however preserve some East Slavonic features.
