Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a new web-based handbook for foreign students of Bulgarian. It consists of revised public texts from various thematic fields – insurance, finance, sport, ecology, media policy, etc. It is aimed at upper-intermediate students of Bulgarian, level C1 or C2, and can be used for the education and preparation of future translators. The presented Bulgarian Advanced Language Handbook is intended for students of Bulgarian studies in master programs or in translation seminars. It contains texts from various areas - insurance services, finance, family law, sport, common consumer technology, ecology, media policy, agriculture, etc. A large part of the texts are part of the Bulgarian legislation - examples of laws applicable in the Republic of Bulgaria. Most of them contain the so-called additional provisions which explain and define the meanings of the terms in the laws used. These provisions would serve as a basis for the creation of a glossary of relevant thematic areas. Each text is completed with exercises that aim at using certain phrases correctly in a suitable context, and also the filling of the correct pattern, i.e., the authors emphasize the experience phrases and constructions that are necessary for future translation practice. The handbook was published in an electronic form and is available with open access at the University Online library of Masaryk University called Munispace. The textbook is a part of the new trends in university teaching of foreign languages, because with the widespread penetration of modern computer technologies in all spheres of public life and in particular in all areas of modern education, computer-aided language learning is gaining increasing popularity as an innovative method for improving the quality of foreign language learning.
