Summary/Abstract: Jerusalem Temple represents a religious and political unity symbol for the chosen people. The study aim’s is to evidentiate this status of the Temple in Haggai’s book. Therefore the author presents the historical context in which the prophet had lived and prophetised highlighting some important aspects of his message. In conclusion he asserts that the prophet reached his goal: the Temple was rebuilt and the postexilic Israelite community consolidated both religiously and politically around it.
