Summary/Abstract: The objective of the study is to construct a social and cultural profile of the youth that emigrated from Russia to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in the 1920s. The qualitative analysis of questionnaires filled in by Russian immigrants who lived in the city of Novi Sad (the Kingdom of Yugoslavia) provided a basis for the report. The data analysis confirmed that young males were predominant in the sex and age structure of the émigré community, which led to a high percentage of unmarried men among Russian immigrants so the marriages with Yugoslavian women became a regularity. The study showed that young immigrants faced the problem of employment. Not having the required professional skills and legal status, they had to take up temporary jobs, to do physical work. The analysis of the obtained information confirms young immigrants’ low level of income. The results of the study allowed to reveal an objective law: either an immigrant was a member of several public organizations at once or he was not a member in any of them. Young people of the Russian emigration being forced to go abroad, tried to preserve their national and cultural identity but at the same time they were forced to adapt themselves to social and economic conditions of the country of residence.
