Summary/Abstract: The global macroeconomic situation and technological development naturally increase the demand for energy and energy resources in the world. The energy security of the region should be the highest priority of each state. Natural gas and oil is the main energy fuel of the European Union community. Forecast for nearest future assume that the share of natural gas in the structure of primary energy consumption in the Community’s countries will rise. The above assumptions bring us closer to the conclusion that natural gas and crude oil will remain the most-dependent raw materials for the EU on energy imports. The energy security of Poland and the region should take into account the diversification of sources of energy supplies and the possibility of using own resources. Poland, as a member of the European Union, participates actively in the Community energy policy program. It implements its main goals on the domestic market, considering its own resources and technological conditions in the scope of its infrastructure: transmission and generation. As part of conclusion, an analysis of the currently undertaken steps in the field of increased security in the region. Renewable power sources, like wind and solar energy will be also considered as part of comprehensive development of diversification for proposed action. The authors aim to highlight the risk and propose key factors actions to improve security.
