Summary/Abstract: The article undertakes the topic of the relations between essay, autobiography and reader’s position. The main hypothesis in this paper is: esseyistic “you” more than esseyistic “I” can help in understanding the issues of autobiographism of women’s essays. Herta Muller’s, Jeanette Winterson’s and Zadie Smith’s essay writing confirm this hypothesis, but also modifies conviction about writing project as an agreement between author and reader.
