Summary/Abstract: Recognizing the importance of cultural heritage in post-war processes, the international community devoted a special annex to the Dayton Peace Plan for BiH, which regulates the protection and rehabilitation of cultural heritage - Annex 8, which prescribes the establishment and operation of the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments, independent, professional institution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Commission makes decisions on the designation of movable and immovable property as a national monument and performs international cooperation activities in the field of the protection of national monuments. In addition, the Commission has implemented or implementing a large number of protection projects, in cooperation with international organizations and embassies of foreign countries accredited in Sarajevo.
